Many many autumns ago, I had the privilege of being in the greatest marching band God Almighty has ever given this earth, The Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band. Even more, he blessed me to lead in that band.
As a kid from Jackson, Mississippi, you either play sports or your into music. I went out for my Junior High School basketball team, shoutout to Siwell Middle School. I didn’t make the team. I didn’t make Junior Varsity. At about 11 years old, I found out I wasn’t destined to be Michael Jordan so I picked up a trombone.
So imagine being the kid that grows up going to the football games, the parades, watching old videos on Bandhead and MarchingSport, dreaming of one day growing up to be in that number when the Boom came marching in.
And you did it.
